# New Features & Improvements
### **FairConsent Version 1.8.7 - 14 July 2026**
**New Features**
- **NPS Feedback**: Added an in-app satisfaction survey so we can hear directly from you and keep improving the app.
- **Push Notifications**: Full rollout of push notifications — registration and permission flow, a clear permission prompt shown at the right time (Home/Overview, not app startup), an expandable notification style on Android, and a new **Notifications** toggle in Settings to manage OS-level permission anytime.
- **Consent Accept/Decline Gate**: Consent explanation screens now include a terms-acceptance question with the option to decline, built on an updated dialog component that supports custom actions.
- **Smarter Advanced Consent Flow**: Condition text in the advanced flow now adapts based on server configuration, with better isolation between personal-track and organisation-track data. Custom fields are also now properly disabled in the personal track.
- **Refreshed UI Components**: Updated buttons, bottom sheets, snackbar, camera preview screen, and dialog icons for a more consistent look and feel across the app.
- **Mobile Push Notifications:** Users can now register for push notifications, and admins can trigger notification sends directly from the admin panel.
- **Net Promoter Score (NPS) Feedback:** A new feedback endpoint collects NPS responses, with an admin dashboard and export for reviewing results.
- **Published Consent Term Updates:** Consent terms that are already published can now be viewed and updated in an additive-only way (including visual captions), with a new toggle for sorting visuals.
- **Visual Refresh:** Restyled actor switcher (with organisation photo), a starred/favorites filter for projects, and unified input/button styling across the app.
**Improvements**
- Consent caption length limit increased from 150 to 175 characters.
- Collector API key lookups now match emails case-insensitively.
- Labels and copy standardized to sentence case ("Email" instead of "E-Mail") across the app.
- Login page: clearer password field focus states, better SSO button layout, no more overlapping password checklist.
- Navigation redesigned to always show expanded groups instead of collapsible sections.
- Fixed consent rows not reliably opening their detail modal in consent management and consent links.
- Fixed the sidebar incorrectly resetting to "Content Production" when switching products.
- Fixed license action buttons being unresponsive for users past page 1.
- Fixed uploaded visual files being lost if the file picker was cancelled or interrupted mid-selection.
- Fixed the star/favorite toggle and product-switch redirect behavior.
- PDF Generation Reliability: Fixed layout truncation for children's information, improved branding placement in the footer, added integrity validation before upload/export, and fixed a crash where large notes could cause an out-of-memory error.
- Fixed language selection not being preserved correctly when editing consent information.
- Fixed an issue where organisation terms could get out of sync across devices.
- Fixed settings navigation so returning from file edits properly refreshes the screen and returns you to the right place.
- Fixed a branding reset issue and improved error handling while a project is loading.
- Fixed an issue where activity tracking could interfere with navigation, causing redundant screen loads.
- Updated Swahili translations for witness declaration, consent confirmation, and the new consent decline dialog.
- Migrated legacy Hausa locale data and added missing translations across several languages.
### **FairConsent Version 1.8.6 - 5 July 2026**
**New Features**
- **Swahili language support** — The app is now available in Swahili, making consent capture more accessible for Swahili-speaking participants and communities.
**Improvements**
- **Smaller photo storage** — Consent photos taken with the camera are now automatically compressed, significantly reducing the storage space each consent uses without a noticeable drop in quality. Compression runs in the background, so the app stays responsive while saving.
- **Automatic compression for large images** — Oversized consent images are now resized and optimized automatically. Cached PDFs are refreshed whenever an image is resized, so documents always reflect the latest version.
- **Reliable, safe media handling** — Compression now only runs once per file and uses safe, atomic file operations, protecting your consent media from corruption or duplicate processing if something is interrupted.
- **Witness age validation now works correctly** — Fixed an issue where an empty or zero witness age could slip past validation and let you confirm the form. All required fields are now always checked before confirming.
- **Smoother form validation** — Resolved an error that could occur while typing in text fields, eliminating unnecessary flickering and improving form responsiveness.
### **FairConsent Version 1.8.5 - June 2026**
**New Features**
**FairTrace enhancements**
- Asset records now carry a **context field** and a **description field**, flowing through to the signing pipeline so provenance information is richer and more complete.
- The FairTrace widget can now **display a verification badge on every image** on a page (not just one), with a new opt-out so individual images can be excluded.
**Consent project collaboration**
- **B2B collectors can now create consent projects directly in-app** (admin-gated), removing the need to go through a separate setup step.
- New **consent duration** controls in organisation policy, including an on/off toggle, now enabled by default for new organisations.
- Consent collectors now receive a **single batched email notification** when assets finish uploading.
**Redesigned platform interface**
- New **platform header bar and product switcher**, which now stays in sync with the product you're viewing — even when you land on a page directly via URL.
- A **collapsible sidebar** with an icon-only mode and grouped section headers for easier navigation.
- **Redesigned integrations page** with consistent spacing across the platform.
- **Unified status badges** with a single consistent style across every page.
**Smarter forms and validation**
- Consistent, clearer **validation and error messages** across login, MFA, projects, consent terms, and creator profiles.
- Improved form submission experience with better inline feedback.
- Enhanced **project keyword entry and search**.
- **Create Projects In-App**: B2B collectors can now create new projects directly within the app (when enabled by an admin), without needing to set them up elsewhere first.
- **Edit & Delete Pending Projects**: Collectors can edit or delete their own locally created projects while they're still pending, with a helpful coachmark and tooltips guiding when deletion is available.
- **Force & Optional Updates**: The app can now prompt you to update — either required or optional — so you always stay on a supported version.
- **Witness Declaration**: Added a witness declaration card with validation on the photo confirmation step, and witness details are now included in consent validation.
#### **Security & Access Control**
- Reworked **FairConsent access control**, with hardened protection for non-organisation actors and a clean, branded **403 (access denied) page**.
- Resolved a **Content Security Policy** issue by removing the need for unsafe-eval in the rich-text editor.
**Improvements**
- Fixed **OrangeLogic upload filename collisions** so assets with identical names no longer overwrite each other.
- **Single sign-on** redirects now complete correctly when returning to the platform.
- Restored reliable **rich-text / briefing editor** behaviour and fixed several related glitches.
- Consent term **visual previews now render on a clean white background**.
- **Direct-to-DAM** delivery now works for projects created locally.
- Name fields now **accept non-Latin characters** while keeping validation tight.
- Fixed the profile **phone number field** so editing it correctly enables the Save button.
- Logged-in users can now access the **visual creator portfolio overview**.
- Rebuilt the **404 and 500 error pages** as clean, branded static pages.
- Fixed mobile navigation showing a blank white gap when opened.
- Resolved a race condition and improved error handling during uploads.
- Smoother witness signature experience with scroll-lock and signature smoothing on the signature pad, plus refined witness flow tabs.
- Consent flow UI refreshed with improved translations, and consent duration now displays conditionally in generated PDFs.
- Cleaner PDF output with rounded placeholder images.
- Loading overlay now shown while a project subscription updates, so it's clear something is happening.
- Corrected right-to-left (RTL) layout in app bars for Arabic and other RTL languages.
- Project overview now refreshes automatically after reviewing the consent list, and access warnings are preserved correctly.
- Fixed camera freezes on some Android devices by migrating to CameraX and hardening photo capture.
- Resolved consent-flow crashes and several edit/create state issues.
- Fixed captions being visually truncated in generated PDFs.
- Resolved broken audio playback paths when uploading consents for organization projects.
- Improved error reporting and made all required fields mandatory when creating projects.

**Custom Consent Version 2 (create consents in-app):**Users will be able to:
\- Write their own consent terms in-app using a rich text editor.
\- Upload a logo that will be included in the consent terms.
\- Record an audible version of the consent terms in-app. (Currently on Android only)
**'Rate app' prompt:**Users will be prompted to rate the app occasionally at specific points of the project flow.
**Witness workflow optimisations:**
\- Witnesses doesn't need to record a consent, they will only need to capture a photo or signature.
\- If there is already a witness in your project, the user will see a selection of witnesses below the witness button to choose an existing witness.
